All about concussion symptoms
Young children, especially, may not be able to fully communicate what they are feeling, so it is critical to watch them closely.
Concussion symptoms in children involve the child becoming irritated and having difficulties in concentrating or having a sound sleep. While dramatic, loss of consciousness orseizure are not common in concussion and do not predict severity. The term concussion describes an injury to the brain resulting from an impact to the head.
After a concussion, you may have a headache or neck pain. A concussion is a brain injury in which the brain is “concussed” inside of the skull from either a direct impact or a whiplash-type motion in which the brain is concussed through the accelerated motion of the head when the head is snapped forwards and/or backwards.
Sometimes the warning signs of a head injury don’t show up for several hours or even days later.
